Day 4 Lhasa to Gyantse

Today the challengers travelled by minibus to Gyantse climbing to a new high point of 5,000 metres!

“The eight hour journey was hampered by the weather with heavy snow storms at one point and speed controls on the mountain”, says Matt Mitchell, Wooden Spoon Rugby Manager.

“At the 5,000m viewpoint we spotted a couple of Tibetan mastiffs that looked suspiciously like lions!

“Continuing on to our next break at 4,600m and a stunning view of Lake Yamdrok. An impromptu game of touch rugby followed with Carrie and Shane being lifted in the lineout.

“Around the lakeside and down to our final destination and overnight accommodation in Gyantse. We are well above the snow line now.

“All are in good spirits and enjoyed a tasty buffet dinner at our hotel for the night, with some taking the opportunity to stretch their legs afterwards and see the local sights.”
